The SharePoint Architects Community met at Microsoft’s UK Headquarters in Reading in March to discuss a number of topics. The emphasis is very much on sharing ideas and exchanging views on best practice in the industry.
The Forum is an independent group, not owned by Microsoft but involves some of the leading industry figures with experience in SharePoint 2010 Architecture. It attracts like-minded SharePoint gurus representing a broad range of organisations including governments, financial businesses, and legal firms.
Mark spoke to the group about how C5 Alliance has employed FAST ESP 5.3 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 on public websites, using the work the company has done on the gov.je site as the basis for the presentation. Malcolm Scott, who worked on the advanced search system for the States of Jersey also talked about his experiences during this project, accompanied Mark.
Following the presentation there has been a great deal of interest among the group about the solution C5 Alliance engineered for the States of Jersey using SharePoint 2010 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011, in particular the citizen portal delivered for My Gov which enables users to complete tasks, such as applying for a driving licence, online.
Mark says: ‘The SharePoint Architects Forum is an opportunity for experts in this software to join together and discuss a number of issues and projects which helps us all gain a better understanding of how SharePoint can be used in different circumstances. We were able to share with other Microsoft Partners some of the cutting edge solutions we have delivered using SharePoint 2010 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011.’
The SharePoint Architecture Forum meets annually and Mark Loane is regularly asked to speak at the event, which is a significant recognition by his peers and colleagues.
